Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CalgaryPermits, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

Service Description

CalgaryPermits is a subscription-based SaaS service that provides:

  • Real-time access to Calgary building permit data from the City of Calgary's Open Data Portal
  • Advanced filtering by permit type, timeline, budget range, geographic quadrant, and project type
  • Email alerts for new permits matching your saved filters
  • Saved leads tracking to manage your opportunities
  • Unlimited access to all available permit data during your subscription period

Subscription and Pricing

MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION

CalgaryPermits operates on a monthly subscription model at $20-30 per month. Subscriptions automatically renew each billing cycle unless cancelled.

FREE TRIAL PERIOD

New users may be offered a free trial period. At the end of the trial, your subscription will automatically convert to the paid monthly plan unless you cancel.

CANCELLATION POLICY

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. No refunds are provided for partial months.

Your Responsibilities

As a subscriber to CalgaryPermits, you agree to:

  • Comply with all applicable laws including CASL for email marketing, PIPA for privacy protection, and Alberta Consumer Protection Act
  • Obtain necessary licenses to conduct business in Calgary (e.g., General Contractor License from Service Alberta)
  • Use permit information ethically — respect property owners' contact preferences and do not harass
  • Secure your account credentials and not share them with others
  • Provide accurate information when creating your account

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

  • Using automated scripts to scrape or harvest data beyond normal usage
  • Sharing account credentials with unauthorized third parties
  • Reselling or redistributing permit data without permission
  • Harassing permit holders or using data for fraudulent purposes
  • Attempting to bypass subscription restrictions or payment processing

VIOLATION OF THESE TERMS MAY RESULT IN IMMEDIATE ACCOUNT TERMINATION WITHOUT REFUND.

Data Accuracy and Availability

CalgaryPermits provides access to information from the City of Calgary's Open Data Portal. We make reasonable efforts to ensure data accuracy, but:

  • The City of Calgary updates data with potential delays or errors
  • Permit information may change after initial publication
  • We do not guarantee the availability or completeness of permit data
  • Users should verify permit details directly with the City of Calgary when necessary

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CalgaryPermits shall not be liable for:

  • Direct or indirect damages arising from your use of the service
  • Lost business opportunities or revenue
  • Decisions made based on inaccurate or incomplete permit data
  • Third-party service interruptions (Google Auth, Stripe, email providers)

TOTAL LIABILITY shall not exceed the amount you have paid for your subscription in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

Modifications to Terms

CalgaryPermits reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify subscribers of material changes via email.

Termination

Either party may terminate the subscription at any time:

BY USER

Cancel through account settings. Access continues until billing cycle ends.

BY CALGARYPERMITS

For violations or with 30 days notice for non-violation termination.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Calgary, Alberta.
